Understanding the Types of SHIFTA Sellers

Before you start, let’s break down the different types of sellers on SHIFTA so you can decide which path fits you best.

Casual Seller:

If you’re someone who just wants to sell a bike fast or has a few spare parts lying around, this is for you. Casual sellers are everyday riders who want a simple, hassle-free way to make some extra cash and clear out their garage.
No long-term commitment — just list your bike, connect with buyers, and you’re done!

Verified Sellers

Verified Sellers represent a select group of trusted bike professionals, including established bike shops and specialist resellers operating at scale.

Becoming a Verified Seller on SHIFTA isn’t open to everyone — it requires meeting strict eligibility criteria and receiving a personal invitation from our team.

In return, Verified Sellers enjoy exclusive benefits, such as:

• Premium placement in the Verified Seller Catalogue
• Access to official SHIFTA marketing and promotional campaigns
• Enhanced trust and visibility among buyers

Whether you’re looking to sell casually or grow your bike business professionally, we’ll guide you through both options so you can choose what fits best.

If you’re ready to start as a casual seller, the process is quick and straightforward. Here’s how to get started:

Create a SHIFTA Account

• Head to the signup page and create a regular SHIFTA user account. Be sure to use your real name — it helps prevent issues later on with payment verification and buyer trust.

Access Your Profile

• Once your account is created, click the “Account” button (located at the top-right corner of the page header) to navigate to your profile dashboard.

At this point, you’ll want to scroll down just slightly until you reach the on screen banner prompting you to become a seller. Ensure you press the blue button.

Having clicked the button, you will be brought to this page

In here you want to fill in your First and Last name, the name of your store which can be as simple as you name’s store (example for a person named “Dave”, they may choose “Dave’s Store” or perhaps a completely separate name such as “Awesome Bikes and Parts”). The shop URL will be auto filled with your “Seller Name”. It is a good idea to make sure you don’t make it different from your store name as it would hinder someone from searching directly for your store. Don’t forget to click become a seller at the bottom of the form, this is how to sell bikes on SHIFTA.

Once that form has been submitted, the screen will automatically update to display your dashboard with this banner.

Using the blue hyperlinked text, first begin by filling in your address information. On this page you will find that you need to add two photographs, a banner and profile picture/logo. Making sure that these are well cropped, high quality images will be crucial for buyer confidence and making sure you don’t put people off buying from you.

Once this information is all filled in, you will be brought back to the dashboard page where you will still have the pink banner because your sign up isn’t complete.

You’ll next have to connect a payment processor because you want to get paid right? Do this by pressing the second hyperlink. If you don’t already have a stripe account, you’ll be prompted to make one. Make sure you follow and complete all of there steps to minimise issues for the future.

After that, CONGRATULATIONS🥳 , you are now a verified seller. Check out our blog on how to list an item if you need help getting started.

Verified sellers are the core of our platform. The ones who lead the way in making sure that we are a place of trust and safety for buyers and sellers alike. They also get the opportunity to join our verified seller catalogue, be in our social media campaigns and buy maintenance and repair consumables at below market trade pricing. If you think this is for you, keep reading.

I’ve slightly mislead you earlier on in this article, you don’t simply sign up to be a verified seller, you apply and have to be chosen. Before you apply, check that you can list 25+ new items a month and the fulfilment capacity to keep up with your store.

Think you’re ready? Head over to the “Your Account” page, by clicking the aforementioned button and navigate to you seller dashboard by clicking the corresponding tab.

Once here, you should see this banner at the top of your page. Click on the blue hyperlinked text and be guided through how to sell bikes on SHIFTA.

Once, you have reached the next page, scroll down and fill in the form on the website. Make sure you fill in all of the boxes labelled required or you will be unable to proceed.

Having filled that in, you should receive an email within 24 hours (usually immediately) with a link to a second, more detailed form. Fill that in as soon as you can.

After this point, there is not much more you can do than wait while the team here at SHIFTA look into your account to see how you have been performing on the platform, namely things like customer service and shipping times. In order to maximise your chances to become a verified seller, you should be aiming to answer support tickets quickly and limiting problems you have with customers.

Should we decide to take you on as a verified seller, a representative will call you/your store to organise a site visit and determine a person of responsibility for your store who will be our direct contact. This can be the owner of the store, head mechanic or anyone with meaningful influence over the day to day running of the store.

You may be reading this as a backyard mechanic, looking to scale up operations thinking this doesn’t apply to you. Well the thing is it does, at SHIFTA we know that not everyone is a full scale operation so we still accept and encourage applications from people of all sizes who are looking to partner with us properly and accept our help to grow.

The site visit will also include a custom training session delivered by the representative on all things operational with SHIFTA. We believe in getting rid of the cookie cutter approach of most training programmes and making sure you receive holistic training centred around your needs.

Once all of that has been completed, CONGRATULATIONS 🥳 once again because you are now a verified seller.
